You can reduce your exposure to AOD workplace risks by taking action:

Our Training Is Your Insurance

An alcohol or drug-affected worker, is an impaired worker.

Besides contributing to work-related injury and trauma, the misuse of alcohol and drugs affects work relationships and productivity, and comes at a heavy cost to Australian industry and the community.

ADA Australia training provides strategies to identify and address AOD workplace hazards, to develop positive preventative strategies for a safer work environment, and, through increased awareness, to foster an open supportive workplace culture.

Reduce compliance costs and productivity losses,

Reduce insurance, legal and liability costs,

Protect against unfair dismissal claims,

Guard against blowouts in Workcover premiums and Workers’ Compensation costs.

Happier, Safer Employees

Whether driving a forklift, operating a crane, electric saw or company vehicle, the effects of drugs and alcohol – even if consumed the night before – increase risk to the operator, co-workers and the community.

Raising awareness of the long and short-term effects of alcohol and drugs, and the way they impair brain-function, judgment and work performance, is a first step to changing behaviours and making your workplace, and your employees, safer – and happier – when at work.

More Productive Workplaces

The misuse of drugs and alcohol comes at huge social and economic cost. Aside from the burden on the health system, its cost to Australian business is in excess of $6.5billion annually (2010).

Inviting participation, and taking positive steps through training, can change workplace culture and insure against lost productivity, absenteeism and workflow interruption resulting from the misuse of drugs and alcohol.

As well as reducing compliance costs and the disruption and personal trauma of workplace injury.

An Open, Supportive Workplace Culture

“Are you ok today mate?” Fostering an open, supportive workplace culture where co-workers feel comfortable in reaching out to a workmate, and a workplace Health and Safety Policy with a focus on support rather than retribution, is good for all – for employees, for management and good for business.

Each has positive roles to play in identifying and addressing workplace hazards – including those associated with the misuse of drugs and alcohol – in fostering safe work practices and in always presenting for work ‘in a fit state’.

A Tailored Solution

Part of a best practice Drugs & Alcohol Policy is that it be consultative and effectively communicated; that it be a ‘living policy’ with all aware of their responsibilities and obligations under that policy.

ADA Australia can tailor a drug and alcohol awareness solution unique to your business. Our ‘lived experience’ trainers, each having found their own way back from the end of a dark road of addiction, will find the mark with your people.

Let us help. After all, safety and wellbeing at work is everyone’s concern.
