With ADA Australia’s workplace training now getting back into full swing for 2023, we are pleased to announce that we will be delivering our BEST LIFE: BEST WORK Apprenticeship Development program over the course of the year ahead to plumbing industry apprentices at the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC).

ADA Australia has been delivering this program to electrical trades apprentices with the Electrical Trades Union of Victoria (ETU-Vic) and to Toyota Material Handling apprentices, among other key clients, since 2018.

ADA’s BEST LIFE: BEST WORK Program

This training is designed to directly address the challenges faced by new or younger workers in the trades that can undermine their careers and wellbeing. Particularly those challenges around drugs, alcohol, work stress and tension and mental disorder.

It is also to alert them to their rights and responsibilities, to be aware of workplace policies and procedures to promote respect and protect wellbeing, and aware of support services available to them through their union and through other workplace support.

Keeping apprentices engaged, productive and keen to build careers in the trades is a key challenge for industry. Too many are lost before completion of their training due to problems not related to the tools.

An ADA Australia training program for your young apprentices can be a first step to getting ‘the culture’ and attitudes right for young tradies, particularly around workplace relationships. It can also assist them to look after their mental health as well as assist in getting their practices around alcohol and drugs right.

Each is a full-day program delivered by ADA Australia’s experienced and qualified workplace trainers.

About PICAC

PICAC is an industry-led training centre, created and supported by the Plumbing and Pipes Trades Employees Union (PPTEU), Master Plumbers and Mechanical Services Association of Australia (MPMSAA) and others.

There are five PICAC campuses around Australia – three in Victoria, and one each in NSW and Queensland – providing training and courses that support plumbing-based careers. PICAC was primarily established to address the skills shortage in sustainable plumbing within the industry.

The BEST LIFE: BEST WORK Apprenticeship Development training for plumbing industry apprentices will be delivered by ADA Australia at the PICAC training rooms throughout 2023 and beyond.

At ADA Australia, our end-goal is to train up every apprentice in Australia. The following quote is from an apprentice who completed our training, and we agree with him! “Every apprentice and supervisor/foreman should attend this session.”
