Toyota Material Handling Apprenticeship Development Day roll-out

The notion of ‘normal’ that everyone has craved for so long is finally returning. Footy finals are back in Melbourne, covid restrictions are all but gone, and being able to jump on a plane to ‘get away from it all’ is an option once again.

The truth is, nothing brings ADA Australia’s facilitation team more joy than to get out around the country for face-to-face workplace training. It’s helping us return to “our own pre-covid normal”.

Over the past few weeks, we have been in Sydney and Brisbane (and in Adelaide next week) for the Toyota Material Handling National Apprenticeship Development Day roll-out.

This program for the Toyota Material Handling team is designed to equip younger workers to better understand healthy wellbeing practices and the expected behaviours, attitudes, and obligations attached to their roles.

Adapting to the expectations of work can be tough. But equipping younger workers to deal with workplace pressures – the demands of the job, positive behaviours and workplace relationships, as well as after-hours pressures (managing finance, personal concerns, even managing ‘partying’ and wellbeing around alcohol and drugs) – can assist them to be work-ready, motivated and resilient.

Importantly, it can also help them ‘stick’ with their apprenticeship and to always be at their best in their chosen careers.

Jahin Tanvir with the Toyota Material Handling Apprentices

We commonly end each training day with some words to inspire from a guest speaker. Our Sydney guest speaker was Jahin Tanvir, an award-winning keynote and three-time TEDx speaker, board director, multicultural youth advocate and also a finalist for the 2022 Young Australian of the year.

An ADA Australia training program for your young apprentices can be a first step to getting ‘the culture’ right, particularly around relationships, around looking after mental health and getting right their personal practices around alcohol and drugs.
