Being National Reconciliation Week, ADA Australia would like to highlight the recent honour we had of attending the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation 2023 RAP Forum. The RAP Forum provides the opportunity for representatives of traditional owner groups across Victoria to get together to discuss heritage, share knowledge, raise concerns and celebrate community.
The ADA team were honoured to attend and discuss the work we do in mental health, alcohol and drug awareness and our current relationships with first nation enterprises and community groups.
We extend our thanks to Uncle Ron Jones and Uncle Allan Wandin for this opportunity.
This stems from the partnership that ADA Australia has with A2B Personnel, a 100% Aboriginal owned employment consultancy, which specialises in pre-employment training and post-placement mentoring and support for Indigenous Australians.
We also had the opportunity to learn from indigenous speakers and community leaders at the forum and to hear of their concerns and of the great work they are doing to address the day-to-day difficulties faced by our first nation brothers and sisters.
At ADA Australia, we recognise the importance of closing the gap, and of having these frank and fearless discussions. We strongly support the rich and diverse culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and of their long history and connection to Country.
We believe it is for all Australians to build their awareness around Aboriginal history and culture – the longest continuous living culture on earth.
